The Truth About Relationships
A thriving relationship brings you comfort, support, and a sense of belonging. They spill over into every aspect of your life, nurturing hope, wellbeing, and peace. But when the cracks appear — feelings of disappointment, loneliness, and detachment can take over.
For your relationship to endure, it takes perseverance, adaptability, and commitment. But most of all, partnerships require communication. Whether it’s infidelity, financial problems, conflicting aspirations or any other issue that’s the final straw — a breakdown in communication is usually the root cause.
It’s Not Too Late To Rekindle That Flame
The Most Common
Relationship Stumbling Block
Many couples I see fall into a familiar trap. For years, they’ve shared the common focus of prioritising their children’s needs. When their kids become more independent, the once bright light in their relationship dims as they have lost their common objective. They’ve forgotten how to talk to each other — meaning arguments and disputes.
Relationship counselling and individuals & couples therapy bridges the gap, creating a safe space for each partner to be heard and understood. They feel valued and listened to for the first time in years. This newfound understanding opens the door to emotional exploration and, ultimately, reconnection.
Beyond Relationship Breakups — Finding Your Way Back to Yourself
You’ve had a separation or divorce. Your familiar routines have disappeared, your once close companion has gone, and anxiety claws at your mind — whispering doubts and fears about the future. Most of all, you feel a sense of loss and grief. In many ways, it’s very similar to the feelings of a loved one passing on.
Counselling gives you a safe space to comfortably process these high emotions swirling within your head and heart. Unlike speaking to friends or family who might have emotional investments, I offer a neutral, compassionate perspective. No judgement — simply a willingness to listen and understand.
Furthermore, counselling can bring you closure. Working together, we can make sense of the reasons for the relationship’s end. Coming to terms with the ‘why’ brings immense peace — alleviating your insecurities and self-doubt, and delivering reimagined confidence to take you through the healing process and rebuild your life.
Counselling doesn’t magically repair your breakup or completely erase your heartfelt pain. However, through talking and understanding, we can use your intense emotions to progress — allowing you to come out the other side more resilient and stronger, and welcoming the joys of life ahead.

The Power of Combining
Individual and Couples Therapy
Relationship Counselling — Individual and Shared Concerns
While your relationship concerns, challenges, and fears are uniquely your own, how they combine, mismatch, or conflict with your partner’s truly defines your relationship’s success or failure. In simple terms, how well do you communicate these matters to each other?
This aspect of individual need and combined harmony forges your relationship counselling sessions. Your relationship counselling typically begins by creating a safe space for genuinely open dialogue. In the first one or two sessions, I will meet with you and your partner together, permitting us to understand the interaction dynamic.
Confidentiality in Relationship Counselling
Of course, confidentiality is paramount. Sometimes, individual sessions are necessary to delve into deeply personal experiences, views, or fears — aspects that you may be reluctant to share in front of your partner. This creates a safe space for you to feel heard and understood — without the fear of judgement, conflict, or retaliation.
These individual sessions are often where the relationship ‘key’ comes to light. Freed from the pressure of maintaining a façade, you and your partner can release their true feelings and concerns more openly. Often, this can allow us all to unlock the door that’s closed on the relationship.

How Much Does Relationship Advice Cost?
The cost of relationship counselling depends on numerous factors. These can include the amount of sessions you require, the underlying causes of your relationship challenges, and whether the sessions are for you, you and your partner, or a mixture over the counselling period.
If you or your partner see no improvement after the second session, I will refund your money in full.
Is Counselling Confidential?
Absolutely. Anything you divulge, both in couple and individual sessions, will be kept completely confidential. As an Australian Counselling Association (ACA) member, I am bound by the code of ethics for confidentiality.
